In 1955, Arvin Industries developed and patented a vinyl-metal laminate called Arvinyl. This innovative laminate quickly expanded to include leather-to-metal sheets and vinyl-to-wood products. Within five years, Arvin Industries became the largest and most innovative custom lamination company in the United States.

In 1991, the custom lamination manufacturing unit of Arvin Industries was sold, and the company was renamed Arvinyl Metal Laminates. In 2011, the company underwent another ownership change and was renamed Arvinyl Laminates.
